Salary: £90-£105 per day PAYE (dependent on experience)

Ortus Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a thriving primary school in Clapham. This exciting opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and are eager to make a meaningful impact within an inclusive school environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with pupils with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, and Speech & Language difficulties, supporting their academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND, ensuring their individual learning needs are met.
• Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and adapt resources accordingly.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all pupils feel valued and supported.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to monitor and promote pupil progress.
• Support pupils with transitions, social integration, and behaviour management strategies to ensure a harmonious learning environment.
• Engage in classroom activities and offer general assistance to support the day-to-day functioning of the class.

Essential Requirements:

• Prior experience supporting children with SEND is highly desirable, with a particular focus on those with EHCPs.
• A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with children to support their learning and emotional well-being.
• A strong understanding of child protection and safeguarding protocols.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
• Relevant qualifications (such as Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) are an advantage but not essential.
