SEND Teaching Assistant | January 2024 Start

A warm and inclusive primary school committed to providing quality education to every child are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team and contribute to the positive learning experiences of their students.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing one-to-one and small group support to children with significant special educational needs, particularly focusing on social communication and interaction difficulties, receptive and expressive language challenges, as well as addressing behaviour that challenges. Working closely with the SENCo and Speech and Language Therapist, you will make a significant impact on the overall educational journey for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with special educational needs, focusing on communication and interaction.
  • Collaborate with the SENCo and Speech and Language Therapist to implement tailored strategies and interventions.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Work closely with teachers to ensure that lessons are accessible and engaging for all students.
  • Monitor and track the progress of students with special educational needs.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Relevant experience working with children with special educational needs.
  • Previous experience of working in a similar role.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or SEN would be desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals.
  • Understanding of the principles of inclusive education.
