Ortus Recruitment are working on behalf of a mainstream, inclusive primary school, based in the London Borough of Barnet – a vibrant and diverse area. The school are looking to recruit a Teaching Assistants to work on a 1:1 basis with pupils who have Speech and Language difficulties in KS1.

The role:

The Speech & Language Teaching Assistant requires knowledge and experience in assisting pupils with understanding spoken language, speech sound pronunciation and improving social skills. The successful TA will need to confidently lead interventions, set and help pupils achieve targets, engage pupils in the curriculum and aid in the overall social, emotional and academic development of pupils.

Main Expectations:

• Be patient, proactive and have a can-do attitude
• 6+ months experience supporting children with SEN (desirable)
• Minimum 2:2 degree in speech therapy, English, psychology, educational studies or other relevant degree
• Strong numeracy/literacy skills
• Must be able to provide: an enhanced DBS (or willing to apply for one through Ortus Recruitment), proof of Right to Work in the UK and 2 references
