Ortus Recruitment are looking for a Teaching Assistant (1:1) to join our client mainstream primary school as soon as possible. The successful candidate will need to have relevant experience in working with primary-aged children, a proven high standard of both spoken and written English, the ability to communicate effectively with children and adults is essential, together with a friendly and approachable manner. The successful candidate will be able to work using their own initiative and demonstrate effective behaviour management skills. 

You will collaborate with teachers in delivering programmes of teaching and learning activities and wellbeing support for children identified as needing 1:1 support. You will have experience in working with children with a range of SEND needs including ASC and ADHD, as well as showing an understanding of sensory needs and de-escalation techniques. The successful candidate will be placed in Year 3.

Candidate Requirements:

• A degree or relevant qualifications in Education, Maths, English, Sciences, Psychology, Drama, or Performing Arts or related field
• Strong understanding of working with children/ young people, e.g., Youth Work, Mentoring, Tutoring, Childcare, Voluntarily
• Experience working with children in a professional environment or can demonstrate a desire to support students.
• Genuine passion and skills to make a positive impact in pupils day-to-day lives in school
• Experience working with challenging behaviour
