Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a vibrant school in Acton, supporting primary and/or secondary students. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers to support students’ learning and well-being, including those with special educational needs (SEN) and additional learning requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support: Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons by providing individual or group support to students to enhance their understanding and participation.
  • One-to-One Support: Offer tailored support for students with SEN, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and other specific learning needs.
  • Learning Resources: Help prepare learning materials and resources, ensuring they are accessible and effective for all students.
  • Behaviour Management: Promote positive behaviour and implement strategies to manage challenging behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track and document students’ progress and report feedback to teachers and parents, participating in parent-teacher meetings as necessary.
  • Classroom Organization: Assist in maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment, ensuring a safe space for students to learn and grow.
  • Administrative Tasks: Support with administrative duties, including marking and preparing displays, as well as organizing materials for lessons.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role is desirable. Experience supporting children with SEN would be highly advantageous.
  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) preferred but not essential.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, patience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for supporting students’ learning and development.
  • Commitment: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
