Teaching Assistant

Ortus Recruitment is excited to partner with a well-regarded primary school in Streatham, Lambeth, to find an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant. The school is committed to providing a nurturing environment for its pupils and is looking for a passionate individual to support the academic and emotional development of students in the classroom.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to deliver high-quality learning experiences. Your role will involve supporting pupils individually and in groups, helping them to stay engaged and succeed in their studies. You will also assist in creating a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher in delivering lessons and managing classroom activities
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils who may need additional assistance
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages children to participate and thrive
  • Help with behaviour management and ensuring the well-being of all students
  • Assist in the preparation of teaching materials and resources
  • Communicate regularly with parents and staff to ensure the best outcomes for students

Requirements:

  • Genuine passion for working with children in an educational setting
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with children and colleagues
  • Experience in a similar role, ideally in a primary school setting
  • Patient, flexible, and proactive approach to supporting students
  • Available for full-time work (Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 16:00)
  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
