Ortus recruitment are looking for a teaching assistant to support the head teacher and the children in the classroom. If you are interested in this position then please read on.

About the Role:

• Teaching support: Works with teachers to plan and implement learning activities, and provides feedback on pupil progress 
• Pupil support: Works with individuals and small groups of pupils to help them learn, and provides support for pupils with special needs 
• Classroom preparation: Helps prepare the classroom for lessons, and tidies up after lessons 
• Administrative support: Performs administrative tasks such as photocopying, filing, and displaying work 
• Parent support: Builds relationships with parents to support the child’s needs 
• Health and safety: Monitors health and safety, and ensures that equipment is stored and used appropriately 
• Physical care: Provides physical care for pupils, including self-care and other personal needs 
• Wellbeing: Supports the wellbeing of pupils, and reports problems to relevant staff 

Requirements:

• Previous experience working 1:1 or in groups with children.
• Previous experience working with children with special educational needs and disabilities
• A genuine desire and passion for working with children.
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable to different environments and difficult behaviours.
• Good interpersonal communication skills and the ability to create relationships with teachers, children and parents.
• Sensitivity, patience, empathy and problem-solving skills when it comes to handling difficult situations.
