Teaching Assistant
Ortus Recruitment is looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school in Waterloo. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking team, where you’ll play a key role in supporting the growth and development of young learners in a friendly and inclusive school environment.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to create a stimulating, nurturing learning environment for all students. Your primary responsibility will be to assist with daily classroom activities that encourage the academic, social, and emotional development of children. You’ll engage with pupils both individually and in groups, ensuring their unique needs are met and helping them thrive both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the class teacher to deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons and activities
- Provide individual and small group support to ensure that every child makes progress
- Help foster a positive, inclusive, and secure classroom environment where every child feels valued
- Assist in the preparation of learning materials and resources
- Maintain high standards of behaviour management to support an effective and focused learning space
- Work closely with parents and carers to communicate and support each child’s development
- Assist with students’ personal growth, focusing on their social and emotional well-being
Requirements:
- A genuine enthusiasm for supporting young children in an educational setting
- Strong communication skills, both with children and adults
- The ability to work well within a team and contribute to a positive school environment
- Passion for fostering an inclusive, welcoming classroom atmosphere
- Willingness to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
- A flexible, proactive approach to adapting to the diverse needs of children
- Available to work full-time (Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 16:00)
- An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
