Teaching Assistant
Ortus Recruitment are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant with Playworker experience to join our vibrant school community in the Herne Hill area.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with teachers to support children in their learning, assisting with classroom activities, and ensuring that students are engaged and progressing academically. With your background in playwork, you’ll also support play activities during break times and in after-school care, creating a positive and enriching environment for the children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support classroom activities and work with small groups of students to enhance their learning.
- Assist with preparing and delivering lessons as directed by the teacher.
- Help students with special educational needs (SEN) and provide additional support where required.
- Supervise children during lunch breaks and after-school care, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Create a stimulating, fun, and inclusive play environment during outdoor activities and structured playtimes.
- Build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.
- Support the teacher in monitoring and recording students’ progress.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational setting.
- Experience working as a Playworker or with children in play-based environments.
- A passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
- Knowledge of safeguarding policies and practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and be proactive in supporting both children and staff.
- A relevant childcare or education qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ) is desirable.
Desirable:
- Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN).
- First Aid qualification.
