Teaching Assistant
Ortus Recruitment is delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive Church of England primary school based in Clapham, who are currently seeking a compassionate, committed, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in KS2 with SEN and carry out interventions.This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a nurturing school community that places strong emphasis on holistic child development, inclusive practice, and a Christian ethos rooted in love. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to pupils both in small groups and one-to-one, adapting to meet a range of needs.
- Collaborate with teachers to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports social and emotional development.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and deliver related interventions.
- Monitor, track, and report on pupil progress, contributing to assessments and IEP reviews.
- Support classroom preparation, resource organisation, and provide lunchtime supervision.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families, upholding the Christian ethos and core values of the school.
Essential Criteria:
- A relevant qualification in education or childcare.
- Experience working in a primary school setting, particularly delivering support and interventions.
- Strong understanding of child development and inclusive educational practices.
- Excellent behaviour management and knowledge of de-escalation techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine interest in supporting children’s development with empathy, patience, and resilience.
- A team player with the ability to adapt in a dynamic school environment.
- A deep commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable Criteria:
- Experience supporting children with special educational needs (SEND).
- Prior work in a Church of England school.
- Strong grasp of inclusive teaching strategies and SEND practices.
- Confident in using IT tools to support learning.
- Willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school.
