Ortus Recruitment is working closely with a vibrant primary school in Clapham, seeking a compassionate and proactive ASD Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately. This full-time role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting students with autism and helping them thrive both academically and emotionally.
🌱 About the Role:
You will be supporting pupils across EYFS to KS2, with a particular focus on those with ASD and additional complex needs. Your role will involve delivering personalised support strategies in class, in small groups, and during one-on-one interventions.
🎯 Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualised support to children with ASD, ensuring their social, emotional, and academic needs are met
- Implement structured routines using visual aids (e.g., now-and-next boards, PECS cards) to support transitions and classroom engagement
- Collaborate with class teachers and SEN staff to adapt learning materials and behaviour strategies
- Foster a calm, nurturing environment to help pupils manage their emotions and build confidence
- Support pupils during lessons, break times, and transitions between activities
✅ Who We’re Looking For:
- Experience supporting children with ASD or other special educational needs is highly desirable
- A calm, empathetic, and patient approach when working with young learners
- Ability to follow personalised learning plans and behaviour strategies
- Comfortable working full-time (Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm)
- Hold the right to work in the UK and be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check
