Ortus Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Tulse Hill to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs . This is a full-time position and an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs in a primary school setting.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and senior leadership team to support pupils’ learning, development, and wellbeing. You may be working 1:1 or in small groups, helping pupils to access the curriculum and reach their full potential.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting pupils with SEN in the classroom and during school activities
• Assisting with learning tasks, behaviour support, and emotional regulation
• Providing general classroom support to the teacher
• Helping to create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
• Following school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times

The Ideal Candidate

Experience is desirable but not essential. This role is suitable for:

• Experienced Teaching Assistants
• SEN support workers
• Graduates considering a career in education
• Candidates with relevant experience working with children (schools, childcare, youth work, tutoring, care, or support roles)

• Hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS Disclosure
• Complete safer recruitment checks
