Here at Ortus Recruitment we are working alongside a vibrant Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ mainstream Primary School who are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to start immediately. The school is located in the London Borough of Lewisham, Brockley.

In order to be considered for this position you will need to have:

• An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service or be willing to process one through Ortus Recruitment – £52
• Two obtainable childcare relevant references – Professional or Character
• A strong academic background, minimum Grade C in GCSE English and Math

What we need from you:

• Experience working alongside children in any capacity – in a care, residential, school or social setting (Coaching, Nannying, Tutoring, Youth work)
• The ability to communicate with staff and students effectively
• Be passionate about working alongside children and be dedicated in developing their academic attainment levels
• Have a ‘Can do’ attitude
• You will need to be able to start immediately, and commit to full time, long term work

What you will be doing within this role:

• You will be responsible for working alongside the class teacher supporting a year 5 class
• You will need to assist the class teacher in planning, preparing and setting out worksheets and activities
• You will be responsible for supervising the pupils whilst they’re in the playground and in the lunch hall
• You will be required to undertake administrative duties such as marking classwork, handing out homework and updating/removing display boards
• You will need to liaise with parents/carers to provide feedback on the pupils’ academic and behavioural progress
