• Pay: £80 – £95 per day, PAYE – No hidden agency/umbrella company fees

• Role: Full time, Long term, Monday – Friday (08:30 – 16:00)

Here at Ortus Recruitment we are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join one of our vibrant Mainstream Primary Schools located in the London Borough of Southwark, Bermondsey. The school are looking for someone who can join on an immediate, full time, long term basis to support a Year 4 class, providing extra support within the classroom. The school is Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ and have been able to produce amazing academic results.

Within this role, the successful candidate will be a general Teaching Assistant, tasked with assisting the Class Teacher support a mainstream Year 4 class. You will need to assist the teacher in supporting pupils with their classwork and any other general enquiries they may have. You may be asked to take a handful of pupils out of class to work in a separate space, providing extra support with differentiated work that suits the individual needs of the learners, which will be given to you by the class teacher. You will then be required to liaise with the Class Teacher and the Parents/Carers to provide feedback on the pupil’s academic and behavioural progress. You will need to assist the Class Teacher with administrative duties such as, updating class display boards in the classroom and corridor, laminating and photocopying classwork and marking classwork/homework.

The requirements:

• You will need to have previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in a classroom setting, preferably Primary but Secondary experience is also welcome
• You will need to be able to easily build a positive rapport with both staff and students
• You will need to be passionate about working alongside children and have a natural dedicated to wanting to aid their development academically, mentally, socially and emotionally
• You will need to be patient and resilient whilst working, able to think on your feet and solve problems quickly
• You will need to be confident in leading 1:1 and/or small group interventions
• You need to have a strong academic background, educated to degree level or equivalent (desired, not essential)
• YOU MUST HAVE TWO OBTAINABLE CHILDCARE/SCHOOL BASED REFERENCES
• YOU MUST HAVE A CLEAR ENHANCED DBS ON THE UPDATE SERVICE, OR BE WILLING TO PROCESS ONE THROUGH ORTUS RECRUITMENT – £52
