ORTUS RECRUITMENT are working with an exceptional client, a Mainstream Primary School in Merton who are seeking a Teaching Assistant (Non experienced, transferable skills welcome) to join their wonderful staff team, with an immediate start, preferably someone who can hit the ground running in this rewarding role.

The job role:

• Position: Teaching Assistant
• Pay: £80 – £90 per day, PAYE
• Location: Merton
• Role: Full time, Long term

The main requirements for this role are:

• Must have experience working alongside children and/or vulnerable adults/young people in a care, school or social setting
• Must have patience and resilience as well as a natural passion for working alongside children
• Must be motivated and hardworking
• Must be able to build a positive rapport with staff and pupils and contribute to an already positive working and learning environment
• Must be able to relocate or reliably commute
• Must have a clear Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the update service or be willing to process one through Ortus Recruitment (£52)

The main responsibilities for this role are:

• To work alongside the class teacher and other teaching staff to support learners within a year 5 class
• To supervise learners in the class and around the school building (lunch hall and playground)
• To undertake administrative tasks such as marking work, signing reading diaries, photocopying/laminating worksheets and handing out homework
• To assist the class teacher in dismissing learners at the end of the day and providing feedback/progress to parents/carer
• To be confident in leading 1:1 and small group interventions with learners to help raise their academic attainment
