Teaching Assistant – Physical Needs Support (Primary School)
We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and skilled Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team in a mainstream primary school setting. This rewarding role involves working closely with children who have physical disabilities and additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop independence, and thrive within the school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with physical disabilities and additional needs
- Assist pupils with mobility, including the safe use of wheelchairs and hoisting equipment
- Support the implementation of physiotherapy programmes, following guidance from healthcare professionals
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure each child’s needs are met
- Promote inclusion, participation, and independence within the classroom and wider school environment
- Support personal care needs with dignity and sensitivity, where required
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children with physical disabilities and complex needs
- Practical knowledge of using hoists and supporting wheelchair users
- Experience implementing physiotherapy or therapeutic programmes
- A patient, caring, and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
