Are you a motivated and caring individual with experience supporting children in Early Years or Primary settings?
Ortus Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Lewisham. In this role, you will support pupils across the classroom—including those with special educational needs (SEN)—to help them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
🔑 Key Responsibilities:
• Assist class teachers in delivering engaging lessons and daily classroom activities.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support, particularly for pupils with additional learning needs.
• Prepare learning resources, organise the classroom, and complete general administrative tasks.
• Support children’s emotional, social, and physical development throughout the school day.
• Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, staff members, and families.
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for all learners.
• Implement tailored strategies and interventions for pupils with SEN.
• Support extracurricular activities, including after-school clubs, when required.
✅ Requirements:
• Previous experience working with children in a classroom setting (Early Years or Primary preferred).
• Experience supporting pupils with SEN is advantageous.
• A strong interest in education, child development, and helping young learners succeed.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with pupils and staff.
• A flexible, proactive attitude and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
