The Job Role:

• Position: Teaching Assistant
• Pay: £80 – £90 per day, PAYE – No hidden Agency/Umbrella Company Fees
• Location: Lewisham, Blackheath
• Role: Full time, Long term (Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 16:00)

ORTUS RECRUITMENT are recruiting a Teaching Assistant for a Mainstream Primary School located in the London Borough of Lewisham, Blackheath. We are seeking someone who can start immediately and commit to Full time, Long term work. Ideally we are seeking someone with experience working in a school but we are open to considering candidates with transferrable skills, such as sports coaching, care or volunteering experience.

The school is Ofsted rated ‘Good’ and are looking to add to their amazing staff team. The school has a modern building, with parking and excellent transport links. The school have a warm and welcoming environment for new staff, and the Senior Leadership Team are motivating and supportive.

The Ideal Candidate will:

• Have experience working alongside children in a care, residential, school or social setting
• Have experience leading 1:1 and small group interventions
• Be able to follow instructions given by the Class Teacher as well as being able to work off of your own initiative
• Be passionate about working alongside children and dedicated to helping them develop social, emotional and mental skills
• Be patient and resilient, as well as being able to think quick on your feet
• Have a strong academic background, educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant childcare qualification
• Have two obtainable relevant childcare references
• Have a clear Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service or be willing to process one through Ortus Recruitment – £52

The main responsibilities will be to

• Assist the Class Teacher in supporting pupils in a Year 5 class
• Assist the Class Teacher in planning and preparing work as well as setting out activities and tasks for pupils to complete
• Take the pupils to lessons, supervising them in the corridor and ensuring calm and safe behaviour
• Supervise the pupils in class and around the school building, including the lunch hall whilst they eat and in the playground
• Undertake administrative tasks such as photocopying, laminating and marking classwork/homework
• You will be required to supervise pupils on movement breaks in between lessons if they need it
