Teaching Assistant – Sheffield

Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Primary School)
Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Salary: £89-£100 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant and inclusive primary school in Sheffield. The successful candidate will support teaching and learning in the classroom and provide targeted support to pupils to help them reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with class teachers to support children’s learning across the curriculum.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group interventions, including support for children with additional needs.
  • Assist with preparing and organising classroom materials and resources.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage high standards through praise and guidance.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Supervise pupils during playtimes, lunchtimes, and on school trips.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide feedback to teaching staff and parents where appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent qualification/experience).
  • Previous experience working with primary-aged children.
  • A nurturing and proactive attitude with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English and Maths or equivalent).
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection responsibilities.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Familiarity with phonics teaching (e.g., Read Write Inc. or Little Wandle).
  • Basic first aid qualification.
