Behaviour Mentor – 1:1 KS1 Support – Muswell Hill, Haringey

Pay: £90–£100 per day (PAYE)

Ortus Recruitment is working closely with a warm and inclusive mainstream primary school in the heart of Muswell Hill, Haringey. The school is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to support a KS1 pupil on a 1:1 basis, helping them to thrive both emotionally and academically. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference in a child’s early school experience.

The Role:

• Providing 1:1 behaviour and emotional support to a KS1 pupil with identified SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs
• Supporting regulation strategies, transitions, and classroom engagement
• Helping to implement and follow individual support and behaviour plans
• Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals
• Promoting a safe, calm, and structured learning environment
• Acting as a consistent, positive role model for the pupil
• Supporting the wider class and school community when needed

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience working with pupils with SEMH, ASC, or behaviour-related needs
• Calm, confident, and consistent approach to behaviour support
• Strong emotional intelligence and ability to de-escalate challenging situations
• Passion for inclusive practice and child-centred learning
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Experience in primary settings, particularly KS1, is desirable
• Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3, Team Teach, or similar) are beneficial
