Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant (TA) or Behaviour Mentor looking for your next rewarding role in a Year 1 classroom?
We’re working with a welcoming primary school seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to support children with challenging behaviour, SEN, or SEMH needs.
The Role
- Provide 1:1 and small group support within a Year 1 class.
- Help children with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties stay engaged in lessons.
- Use positive behaviour management strategies to create a calm, structured learning environment.
- Support the class teacher in delivering lessons and adapting activities to meet individual needs.
- Encourage pupils to build confidence, resilience, and independence.
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Support Assistant, or Learning Support Assistant (LSA) in a primary school.
- Strong behaviour management skills and experience supporting children with SEN / SEMH.
- Experience in KS1 (particularly Year 1) preferred.
- A calm, patient, and consistent approach to supporting children with additional needs.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 TA, CACHE, or equivalent) desirable but not essential.
