Ortus Recruitment is seeking a Year 1 to Year 3 Teaching Assistant to work closely with the Classroom Teacher and support pupils within the classroom. This role is ideal for someone with a genuine passion for supporting young children’s learning and development in a primary school setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Class Teacher with planning and delivering daily classroom activities.
• Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils to aid learning and progress.
• Support children with learning difficulties and manage challenging behaviour appropriately.
• Prepare the classroom before lessons and support with tidying and organisation afterwards.
• Carry out administrative tasks such as photocopying, filing, displaying pupil work, and recording key information for teachers and parents.
• Build positive relationships with parents to encourage effective communication and a welcoming school environment.
• Promote children’s health, safety and wellbeing, ensuring potentially harmful equipment is kept out of reach.
• Communicate effectively with pupils, staff and parents, actively listening and responding to individual needs.
• Manage multiple tasks while maintaining close attention to pupils and classroom activities.
• Support lunchtime supervision and engage children in play activities.

Requirements

• A strong commitment to supporting children’s emotional, social and mental wellbeing.
• Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is preferred.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
• Previous experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting.
• A patient, sensitive and dedicated approach to supporting young learners.
• Flexibility to support pupils across Years 1 to 3 within a primary school.
