Ortus Recruitment is proud to be supporting a friendly and well-regarded primary school in Wandsworth that is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their Year 4 class on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant who is confident supporting learning across the primary curriculum and is looking for an immediate start in a supportive school environment.

The Role

As a Year 4 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to provide in-class support, help maintain a positive learning environment, and ensure pupils are engaged and supported throughout the school day. You may also be required to work with small groups or on a 1:1 basis, including supporting pupils with additional learning needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting the class teacher with day-to-day classroom activities
• Assisting pupils with learning tasks across the KS2 curriculum
• Leading small group interventions in subjects such as reading and maths
• Providing 1:1 support where required, including for pupils with SEN
• Supporting behaviour management and promoting positive conduct
• Supervising pupils during playtime and transitions
• Helping to maintain an organised, engaging, and inclusive classroom
• Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Have a patient, proactive, and adaptable approach
• Be confident supporting learning across KS2
• Work well as part of a team while using initiative when needed
• Demonstrate strong attendance, reliability, and time management
• Have prior experience in a primary school setting (KS1 or KS2)
• Hold a minimum of a Level 3 qualification or a degree (2:2 or above)
• Show enthusiasm, positivity, and a genuine passion for education
