Year 5 Teaching Assistant – Croydon

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-class support to Year 5 students, working closely with the class teacher to enhance learning experiences.
  • Assist in planning and delivering engaging lessons and activities that cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Run targeted intervention sessions for small groups or individual students to help them achieve their full potential in literacy, numeracy, and other key areas.
  • Monitor and assess students’ progress, providing feedback and support to help them overcome learning challenges.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
  • Support the development of students’ social and emotional skills, promoting a respectful and nurturing atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other staff members to ensure the holistic development of each child.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role, preferably within a primary school setting.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and helping them succeed academically and personally.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to addressing students’ needs.
  • A good understanding of the Year 5 curriculum and effective teaching strategies.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) are desirable but not essential.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
