A primary school in New Addington is seeking a Year 6 SEN Teaching Assistant to provide focused support for students preparing for the transition to secondary school. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for working with older primary students, offering guidance both academically and emotionally.
The Role:
As a Year 6 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support students with SEN, providing one-on-one and group support to help them overcome challenges and grow. You will work closely with the class teacher to create a positive and inclusive environment where all students can succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support for Year 6 students with SEN, including those with autism, ADHD, and social-emotional challenges.
- Adapt learning activities and materials to ensure accessibility and engagement.
- Support positive behaviour and encourage social skills development.
- Collaborate with the SENCO and teaching staff to implement individualised strategies.
- Assist students in managing stress and anxiety as they prepare for secondary education.
About You:
- Previous experience with SEN students, especially in Key Stage 2.
- Knowledge of effective SEN strategies and a patient, positive attitude.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Enthusiastic about supporting student progress and independence.
