Ortus Recruitment is working in close partnership with a well-regarded mainstream primary school in Putney that is currently seeking experienced and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants to join their supportive and inclusive team. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and want to make a lasting impact in a vibrant school setting.

Your Role:
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting pupils across the school with a range of needs including ASD, SLD, and PMLD. Working closely with teaching staff, therapists, and SENCOs, you will help deliver high-quality, inclusive education tailored to each child’s needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
• Adapt learning materials and classroom activities to suit individual learning styles
• Assist with personal care and toileting when required
• Help to promote pupils’ independence and social development
• Support the implementation of EHCPs and behaviour strategies
• Build positive relationships with students, staff, and families

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Previous experience supporting children with ASD, PMLD, or SLD, ideally in a school setting
• Confidence working with pupils who may present challenging behaviour or require complex care
• A patient, resilient, and nurturing approach
• Availability to commit to a full-time, long-term role
• A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
• Relevant SEND training or qualifications (desirable but not essential)
