Ortus Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with a well-regarded mainstream primary school in Tulse Hill, which is seeking to appoint a committed and empathetic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity supporting a child in Year 3 with Developmental Language Disorder. The role involves working closely with the class teacher and SENCo to deliver personalised learning support, foster communication and social interaction, and promote full inclusion in classroom activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with DLD, adapting strategies to meet their individual needs.
• Assist with planning and delivering targeted interventions and in-class support.
• Promote the child’s engagement, confidence, and independence in learning.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals.
• Monitor and report on progress regularly to the SENCo and class teacher.

Person Specification:

• Previous experience supporting children in a primary school setting is essential.
• Knowledge of speech and language support or Developmental Language Disorder is highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a calm and positive approach.
• Ability to adapt teaching materials and methods to suit individual needs.
• Relevant Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent).
• Minimum GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade A–C) or equivalent qualifications.
