Ortus Recruitment is proud to be working with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school located in the heart of Tooting, South West London. The school is currently looking for a dedicated and compassionate Classroom Assistant to support children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), specifically in Nursery and Reception.

This is a full-time role starting in September 2025, running through the entire academic year. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:00pm, and the daily pay ranges from £89 to £110 (PAYE – no umbrella fees). A trial day will be required before the start date, and for the right candidate, there is the potential for a permanent contract at the end of the placement, depending on the school’s needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for children with SEN in EYFS and Reception
• Work closely with class teachers and the school’s SENCO to deliver tailored learning strategies
• Help foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment
• Support children’s emotional, social, and academic development
• Assist with planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate learning activities

• Experience working with young children, ideally in EYFS and with SEN
• A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A genuine interest in early childhood education and supporting all learners
• Availability for a trial in September and commitment for the full academic year
