Ortus Recruitment is currently working in partnership with a highly regarded mainstream primary school in Tooting that is seeking a dedicated Reception Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate individual who enjoys supporting young learners during the most important stages of their development. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils build strong foundations for future learning through engaging, child-centred support.

The Role:

• Supporting children within the Reception classroom on a whole-class, small group, and 1:1 basis
• Assisting the class teacher with the delivery of the EYFS curriculum and phonics interventions
• Encouraging communication, creativity, and independence through purposeful play and structured learning
• Helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment both indoors and outdoors
• Building strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
• Supporting children with varying learning needs and promoting inclusion at all times
• Assisting with classroom preparation, observations, and daily routines

The Ideal Candidate:

• Has previous experience working within an EYFS or primary school setting
• Demonstrates a genuine passion for supporting young children’s development
• Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Is proactive, patient, and able to use initiative confidently
• Can support phonics and early literacy development effectively
• Understands the importance of safeguarding and promoting children’s wellbeing
• Works well as part of a collaborative team
