EYFS Teaching Assistant

Ortus Recruitment is currently working in partnership with a highly regarded mainstream primary school in Tooting that is seeking a dedicated Reception Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate individual who enjoys supporting young learners during the most important stages of their development. The school prides itself on providing a stimulating and inclusive learning environment where children are encouraged to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils build strong foundations for future learning through engaging, child-centred support.
The Role:
- Supporting children within the Reception classroom on a whole-class, small group, and 1:1 basis
- Assisting the class teacher with the delivery of the EYFS curriculum and phonics interventions
- Encouraging communication, creativity, and independence through purposeful play and structured learning
- Helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment both indoors and outdoors
- Building strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
- Supporting children with varying learning needs and promoting inclusion at all times
- Assisting with classroom preparation, observations, and daily routines
The Ideal Candidate:
- Has previous experience working within an EYFS or primary school setting
- Demonstrates a genuine passion for supporting young children’s development
- Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Is proactive, patient, and able to use initiative confidently
- Can support phonics and early literacy development effectively
- Understands the importance of safeguarding and promoting children’s wellbeing
- Works well as part of a collaborative team
