Teaching Assistant

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate individual who enjoys working with children and wants to play an important role in supporting pupils both academically and socially. The successful candidate will work closely with classroom teachers to provide high-quality support across the school, helping to create engaging learning experiences while promoting confidence, independence, and positive behaviour amongst pupils. This role would particularly suit graduates considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, or child development, as the school strongly supports professional progression and offers valuable hands-on classroom experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of engaging and creative lessons across the primary curriculum
- Working with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small intervention groups to support learning and progress
- Assisting children with literacy, numeracy, and classroom activities
- Helping to maintain a calm, positive, and purposeful learning environment
- Encouraging pupils’ confidence, independence, and social development
- Supporting children with varying learning abilities and ensuring all pupils remain engaged
- Assisting with classroom preparation, learning resources, and daily routines
- Promoting positive behaviour and acting as a strong role model within the classroom
- Building positive relationships with staff, pupils, and parents
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have previous experience working with children in a school, childcare, tutoring, or youth work setting
- Possess strong literacy and numeracy skills
- Be calm, patient, and adaptable in a classroom environment
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Have a genuine passion for education and supporting young learners
- Be able to work collaboratively as part of a wider school team
- Show initiative and a willingness to contribute positively to school life
