This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and who is motivated by the desire to make a real and lasting difference in the lives of vulnerable learners. • Building strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and progress
  • Providing classroom-based support in a structured but challenging environment
  • Assisting with the delivery of lessons and interventions under the guidance of teaching staff
  • Recording observations, contributing to reports, and maintaining accurate behaviour and progress logs
  • Supporting pupils in developing emotional regulation, resilience, and social skills
  • Promoting a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment at all times
  • Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, therapists, and senior leaders
  • Encouraging positive decision-making and reinforcing expectations consistently

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for a dedicated and compassionate individual who is committed to improving outcomes for young people facing barriers to learning.

Applicants should ideally have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour or additional needs
  • Strong understanding or experience of restorative practices and positive behaviour management
  • The ability to build rapport with vulnerable or disengaged learners
  • Confidence in supporting pupils in a busy, high-need environment
  • Strong communication, record-keeping, and organisational skills
  • A patient, resilient, and emotionally intelligent approach
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people and their families
  • A reflective attitude and willingness to continually improve practice
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a committed multidisciplinary team
  • A strong belief in inclusive education, personal development, and life skills learning

What the School Offers

In return, the school can offer:

  • A highly supportive and collaborative staff team
  • Small class sizes, allowing for more personalised support and stronger relationships
  • Pupils who are engaged, supported, and keen to make progress
  • A well-resourced and purpose-built learning environment designed to meet specialist needs
  • A strong induction programme for new staff
  • Weekly CPD and ongoing professional development opportunities
