KS1 Teaching Assistant

The school is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to start immediately or in September 2026 (must be able to trial immediately). This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who is committed to making a real difference in children’s education. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced teachers to support learning across Early Years and primary phases, helping to deliver engaging lessons, reinforce key skills, and promote progress for all pupils. You will play a key role in supporting phonics, early reading, and mathematics, as well as contributing to a rich and balanced curriculum experience.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support teaching and learning across the classroom, ensuring pupils are engaged, supported, and challenged appropriately.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the delivery of phonics, early reading, and mathematics sessions
- Assisting teachers in planning and delivering engaging bilingual learning activities
- Supporting pupils across the primary curriculum, including those with additional learning needs
- Providing targeted support for pupils with SEND, EAL, and those who require additional intervention
- Helping to create a positive, inclusive, and language-rich learning environment
- Encouraging pupils to develop confidence in both English and French language settings
- Supporting positive behaviour management in line with school policies
- Working with small groups and individuals to accelerate progress and close learning gaps
- Contributing to classroom preparation, resources, and displays
- Supporting pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development
The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for a motivated, energetic, and committed individual who can act as a strong role model for pupils.
Applicants should ideally have:
- Experience working in a primary school or educational setting
- Experience supporting phonics, early reading, and numeracy
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND, EAL, or those needing additional academic support
- A strong understanding of positive behaviour management strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive, flexible, and enthusiastic approach to supporting learning
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- A passion for supporting children’s learning and development
