Ortus Recruitment is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Independent Primary School in Lewisham. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate individual who is committed to supporting children’s learning, development, and wellbeing within a positive educational environment.

Essential Requirement:

Applicants must hold a recognised Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.

However, candidates who do not hold a Level 3 qualification but have a minimum of 2 years’ recent experience working within an educational setting are encouraged to apply with an up-to-date CV.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• A genuine passion for supporting children’s academic, social, emotional, and mental wellbeing.
• Previous experience working with children in an educational setting (essential).
• Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) (preferred).
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, teachers, and parents.
• A patient, caring, and adaptable approach to supporting children’s individual needs.
• Nursery or early years experience is welcomed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to help pupils access their learning.
• Support pupils with additional learning needs and challenging behaviour where required.
• Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation, classroom activities, and daily routines.
• Prepare learning resources and maintain an organised, safe, and engaging classroom environment.
• Complete administrative tasks including photocopying, filing, recording observations, and reporting relevant information to teachers and parents.
• Build positive relationships with parents and carers to promote effective communication and support.
• Promote and safeguard the health, safety, and wellbeing of all children at all times.
• Communicate effectively with pupils, staff, and families.
• Demonstrate strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask while maintaining a high level of awareness within the classroom.
