The Role

Ortus Recruitment is working in partnership with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Brixton that is looking to appoint a committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant for a September 2026 start.

You will be based within the school’s dedicated SEN Unit, supporting a small group of up to eight pupils with Autism (ASD) and Speech and Language needs. Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you will provide tailored support to help pupils access learning, develop communication skills, and build confidence both inside and outside the classroom.

The successful candidate will:

• Deliver focused 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional needs.
• Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Support pupils’ communication, social interaction, and independence.
• Assist with structured interventions and classroom learning activities.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the SEN team to monitor pupil progress.
• Create a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
