Ortus Recruitment is partnering with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Brixton to recruit a dedicated EYFS SEND Teaching Assistant for a September 2026 start. This is an excellent opportunity to work within an Early Years setting, providing tailored support to children with additional learning needs and helping them build the foundations for future success. Working Hours:
Monday to Friday | 8:30am – 4:00pm | Term Time Only

The Role

As an EYFS SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support children within the Early Years Foundation Stage who have a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Deliver targeted one-to-one and small-group interventions to encourage learning, communication, and social development.
  • Assist the class teacher in creating an engaging, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Help pupils develop confidence, independence, and positive relationships with their peers.
  • Monitor progress and contribute to observations and feedback for teaching staff.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to ensure pupils receive consistent support.

Candidate Requirements

The successful applicant will have:

  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEND, within a school, nursery, childcare, or similar setting.
  • A degree or relevant qualification in Education, Psychology, English, Maths, Science, Performing Arts, or a related subject is advantageous.
  • A strong understanding of child development and inclusive learning practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting young learners.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider school team.
  • Willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check if required.
