Ortus Recruitment are liaising with a wonderful school who are looking for a reliable and proactive individual to join their inspirational Year 1 team. The successful candidate will work on a 1:1 basis with a child who has ASD, supporting with their learning and aiding in their social and emotional development.

The school is situated in the London Borough of Brent, an area well-known for its diversity and vibrancy. There is an abundance of shops, cafes, parks and transport links, enabling easy accessibility from door-to-door.

Main Responsibilities:

• Ability to take initiative, be proactive and have a nurturing approach to learning
• Work alongside class teacher to manage classroom behaviour, keep classroom organised and liaise with parents/carers
• Build excellent rapports with staff and pupils
• Support child with ASD on a 1:1 basis
• Lead numeracy and literacy interventions in small groups to raise low attainment levels and reach set targets
• Engage pupils with the KS1 curriculum

Main Expectations:

• 6+ months experience supporting children with SEN, preferably ASD (desirable)
• Minimum 2:2 degree in a relevant subject e.g. psychology or education or Level 3 qualification (desirable)
• Strong numeracy/literacy skills
• Knowledge of the KS1 curriculum (desirable)
• Must be able to provide: an enhanced DBS (or willing to apply for one through Ortus Recruitment), proof of Right to Work in the UK and 2 references
