ORTUS RECRUITMENT are seeking an experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work alongside a pupil in year 4 with challenging behaviour.The candidate will be required to start immediately as interviews and trials will be arranged as soon as possible for potential candidates.

The school is located in the London Borough of Southwark, Peckham Rye and it is a modern building with vibrant and enthusiastic staff. The school is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and is one of our best clients. Previous staff we have placed in the school have described it as a wonderful working environment with supportive staff members and a motivating Senior Leadership Team. The school has excellent transport links as it is located in close proximity to a popular train station and has bus links.

The role itself requires the candidate to work 1:1 with a pupil in year 4 who needs behavioural support in class and around the school building. The ideal candidate will be nurturing and resilient as this pupil tends to test boundaries with staff. You will be required to supervise the pupil on short movement breaks around the building during lessons when their begin becoming unsettled. You will help the learner develop academic, emotional and social skills and also attempt to get the learner to positively engage in learning.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is confident and able to hit the floor running in a school setting working alongside a pupil with challenging behaviour. We are looking for someone who has experience working alongside children in a school or social setting and is able to manage challenging behaviour effectively. Someone with a strong academic background, educated to degree level or equivalent is desired but not essential. Candidates with transferable skills are also welcome to apply.
