We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 ASC Teaching Assistant to support a student with Autism Spectrum Condition in Year 2.
The Role:
As a 1:1 ASC Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide tailored support to a student with Autism Spectrum Condition to ensure their academic and social development ππ€
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and support strategies π
- Use specialized techniques and resources to engage and motivate the student π¨π
- Assist the student in developing communication, social interaction, and independent living skills π¬π§©
- Monitor and record the studentβs progress, providing regular feedback to the class teacher and parents ππ
- Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours in a calm and professional manner π§ββοΈ
- Foster a safe and supportive learning environment for the student π
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-on-one support during classroom activities, ensuring the student remains focused and engaged π«
- Adapt teaching materials to meet the specific needs of the student π οΈ
- Assist with personal care tasks as required, ensuring the studentβs dignity and comfort π§Ό
- Encourage positive social interactions with peers π«
- Support the student during school transitions and routines πΆββοΈπΆββοΈ
- Collaborate with external professionals, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, to implement recommended strategies π€
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Condition or similar needs is essential βοΈ
- A relevant qualification in special education, childcare, or a related field is desirable π
- Strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Condition and effective support strategies π§
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs π
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills π£οΈ
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations effectively π
