We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 ASC Teaching Assistant to support a student with Autism Spectrum Condition in Year 2.
The Role:
As a 1:1 ASC Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide tailored support to a student with Autism Spectrum Condition to ensure their academic and social development ??
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and support strategies ?
- Use specialized techniques and resources to engage and motivate the student ??
- Assist the student in developing communication, social interaction, and independent living skills ??
- Monitor and record the student’s progress, providing regular feedback to the class teacher and parents ??
- Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours in a calm and professional manner ?♂️
- Foster a safe and supportive learning environment for the student ?
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-on-one support during classroom activities, ensuring the student remains focused and engaged ?
- Adapt teaching materials to meet the specific needs of the student ?️
- Assist with personal care tasks as required, ensuring the student’s dignity and comfort ?
- Encourage positive social interactions with peers ?
- Support the student during school transitions and routines ?♂️?♀️
- Collaborate with external professionals, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, to implement recommended strategies ?
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Condition or similar needs is essential ✔️
- A relevant qualification in special education, childcare, or a related field is desirable ?
- Strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Condition and effective support strategies ?
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs ?
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills ?️
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations effectively ?
- A proactive and flexible approach to adapting to the student’s changing needs ?
