The Job Role:

• Position: Qualified Behaviour Mentor
• Pay: £85 – £100 per day, PAYE – No hidden agency/umbrella company fees
• Location: Lewisham, Sydenham
• Role: Full time, Long Term (Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 16:00)

Here at Ortus Recruitment, we are working alongside a thriving Mainstream Primary School located in the heart of Lewisham, Sydenham. The school are seeking a qualified Behaviour Mentor, someone with experience managing challenging behaviour or experience working alongside pupils with SEMH. This school is Ofsted rated ‘Good’ and they are seeking someone who is able to start immediately and hit the ground running in this rewarding role.

The ideal candidate will be someone who has a proven track record of managing challenging behaviour and helping learners develop life skills such as emotional, social and mental skills. We are looking for someone who is patient, resilient and able to manage challenging situations. The ideal candidate will be able to commit to Full time, Long term work and start immediately. Someone who has an eager and enthusiastic approach to work and passionate about working with children. Someone who can build a positive rapport with both pupils and staff.

Within this role, your main responsibilities will be to assist the Class Teacher in supporting a pupil in year 5, who has challenging behaviour. The pupil needs positive reinforcement and reminders to stay on task and complete class work. You will be required to encourage the pupil to engage with learning and maintain a positive attitude towards work. You may need to supervise the pupil on movement breaks around the building when they aren’t able to concentrate in class as well as accompanying them to therapy session in the school with professionals. You will be required to liaise with the Class Teacher, the SENCO and the Parents/Carers to provide feedback and pupil progress, as well as ensuring the pupil is getting the necessary support.
