About the Role

Ortus Recruitment is working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Deptford that is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Mentor to join their pastoral and support team.

This role focuses on supporting pupils who may face behavioural or emotional challenges that impact their learning. As a Behaviour Support Mentor, you will play a vital role in helping pupils develop positive behaviour, build confidence, and remain engaged in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small group behavioural support for pupils who require additional guidance
• Working closely with teachers and SEN staff to implement behaviour support strategies
• Encouraging positive behaviour and helping pupils develop emotional regulation skills
• Supporting pupils who may experience behavioural, social, or emotional difficulties
• Promoting a calm and structured learning environment within the classroom
• Building positive relationships with pupils to support their personal development

Candidate Profile

The school is looking for a candidate who is patient, resilient, and committed to supporting young people.

The ideal candidate will:

• Have experience working with children or young people in a school, youth work, or mentoring environment
• Have experience supporting pupils with behavioural needs, SEMH, or additional learning needs (desirable)
• Be confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
• Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Have a genuine interest in supporting pupils’ wellbeing and development
