Here at ORTUS RECRUITMENT we are seeking an Experienced Learning Support Assistant to join one of our fantastic Mainstream Primary Schools located in the London Borough of Southwark, Peckham. This school are renowned for their positive working environment and impressive academic success. The school is Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ and are looking for an enthusiastic member of staff to join their tight knit staff team.

The successful candidate MUST:

• Be able to start immediately
• Be able to work Full time, Long term Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 16:00
• Be able to reliably commute to Peckham or be willing to relocate
• Have a clear Enhanced Child Workforce DBS, on the update service or be willing to process one through Ortus Recruitment (£52).

Within this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for working alongside The Class Teacher to support pupils in a Year 3 class, and supervise them around the school building, maintaining and ensuring a safe working environment for the pupils. The successful candidate may also be required to lead 1:1 and small group interventions for pupils who need additional help in raising their academic attainment levels. Undertaking administrative duties such as marking classwork/homework, signing reading diaries and helping the class teacher to prepare worksheets.

The ideal candidate will have experience working alongside children in a school or social setting (sports coaching). A strong academic background is desired but not essential, qualifications in core subjects (English, Math, Science and Reading) is essential to be able to lead interventions. We are looking for someone who is highly motivated and enthusiastic whilst working with children, and dedicated to helping them develop in different aspects of learning. Someone who is able to build a positive rapport with pupils and staff is desired, someone who is able to help maintain the positive working environment.
