EYFS & KS1 Teaching Assistant
Ortus Recruitment are working closely with a Primary school in the Hounslow borough, who are looking to recruit a 1-2-1 SEN Teaching Assistant to work with children from Nursery – Year 2.
Experience:
- EYFS & KS1 SEN teaching experience at least a year
- Experience of supporting SEN (Preferably ASC) KS1 students in numeracy, literacy and breaking down science and humanities.
- Working alongside, implementing strategies and reporting back to specialists, including Speech therapist, Occupational therapist, Education Pyschologist and teachers.
- Techniques used before include applied behaviour analysis therapy, TEACCH, PECS , MAKATON
- Creative around making written / textbook activities more visual
- Calm yet firm individual, able to positively push child new experiences, beyond boundaries
- Experience in making visual timetables
- Experience in making social-stories for ad-hoc change such as trips, new routine in class, new teachers
Key Skills:
- Creative, reliable, professional individual (proven track record of good attendance)
- Experience in implementing Occupational therapist sensory diet and other OT strategies
- Experience in implementing Speech therapist strategies
- Experience in documenting progress on child’s IEP by virtue of references in individual subject books
- Passionate about child development
- Experience of supporting children on ASD spectrum
- Experience & trained in using TEACCH / ABA / PECS Makaton to calm children on the spectrum in event of anxiety
- You would ideally have had previous SEN experience with children who have mild/moderate learning difficulties.
