EYFS Teaching Assistant

Ortus Recruitment is working with a creative and well-regarded primary school in Herne Hill, looking to welcome a Teaching Assistant to their team in September 2025. The school has a fantastic reputation for nurturing staff and pupils alike, making this a wonderful opportunity for someone who wants to grow within education. In this role, you will be supporting the teacher across all areas of the curriculum, helping pupils stay engaged, focused and happy. You’ll assist the EYFS team with group work, 1:1 interventions, and wider classroom management, building great relationships with students along the way. This is an ideal position for a graduate or aspiring teacher looking to gain meaningful school-based experience.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting children with their learning in English, Maths and foundation subjects
  • Running small-group sessions and delivering targeted learning activities
  • Assisting pupils with classroom routines and transitions
  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional well-being
  • Collaborating with class teachers to track progress and plan next steps

What You’ll Need

  • A strong interest in working in education or with children
  • Previous experience in a school or child-centred role is beneficial
  • Reliable, proactive and organised
  • Enthusiastic about supporting children’s development
