Ortus Recruitment is currently working in partnership with a highly regarded mainstream primary school in Kennington that is looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils within Key Stage 1. The Role

As a KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both academically and personally, helping them to access the curriculum and make meaningful progress.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing dedicated 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs
• Supporting children with learning, communication, and social development targets
• Assisting class teachers with the delivery of engaging and differentiated learning activities
• Implementing personalised support strategies and intervention programmes
• Encouraging positive behaviour, confidence, and independence
• Building strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
• Supporting children’s emotional wellbeing and engagement in learning
• Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
• Promoting a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment

The Ideal Candidate

The school is seeking a patient, proactive, and caring individual who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs.

Applicants should ideally have:

• Previous experience supporting children with SEN within a school or educational setting
• Experience working with pupils in Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A positive and adaptable approach to supporting learning
• The ability to build positive relationships with children and colleagues
• A genuine interest in child development and inclusive education
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare

Highly Desirable:

• A degree in a core academic subject or a relevant field
• Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language Needs, or SEMH
• Knowledge of intervention strategies and differentiated learning approaches
