Ortus Recruitment is looking for an experienced and dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant. We require someone who is passionate about working with children and has a love for teaching.

The Primary School is situated in the London Borough of Barnet – a vibrant and diverse area with numerous cafes, restaurants, shops and transport links. The pupils are enthusiastic and always ready to learn – and with your dedication to the role, the pupils will be able to reach their full potentials and further excel.

This is a fantastic chance to be at the fore-front of children’s learning and development while being consistently aided and encouraged by the Senior Leadership Team and fellow staff members, with the potential to progress on to a Teacher Training programme if deemed an ideal candidate.

TEACHING ASSISTANT RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop a tailored and creative program suitable for young children
• Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, etc.) to teach children
• Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
• Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional conflicts
• Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colours, do crafts etc.)
• Track children’s progress and report to parents
• Collaborate with other educators
• Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards

REQUIREMENTS FOR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

• Proven experience with teaching primary-aged children
• Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and educational methods
• Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
• Excellent communication and instructional skills
• Ability to act as mediator between children
• Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
• Must be able to provide: an enhanced DBS (or willing to apply for one through Ortus Recruitment), proof of Right to Work in the UK and 2 references
