Learning Support Assistant| Merton| Full time-long term | PAYE £80-£90| Immediate start
Ortus recruitment are looking for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) in the area of Merton within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU). Inside the PRU you’ll be working with a group of 6 children inside a classroom. The children you’ll be working with are not able to attend mainstream schools due to behavioural difficulties, however they’re very excited to learn and socialise with others.
This is a full-time, long-term role which means you’ll be working Monday-Friday from 8:30 am – 4:00pm.
What you will be doing
This is a promising role for anyone trying to adapt their skills. All children inside the school will struggle from Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) this means that interacting and creating a bond with these children is very important to do.
This is a good opportunity to help support children and really make an impact in their life by helping them socialise and interact with other children.

Duties:
– Provide support and assistance to individuals with special needs, including children with autism.
– Assist in implementing individualized education plans and behaviour intervention plans.
– Support individuals in developing and improving their communication skills.
– Help create a safe and inclusive environment for all individuals.
– Collaborate with a team of professionals to ensure the well-being and progress of each individual.
– Assist with daily activities, such as personal care, mealtime, and recreational activities.
Qualifications:
– Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs or autism.
– Knowledge of special education principles and practices.
– Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
– Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
– Patience, empathy, and understanding when working with individuals with special needs.
– Ability to adapt to changing situations and handle challenging behaviours.
Additional Skills:
– Experience in toddler care is a plus.
– Knowledge of evidence-based strategies for working with individuals with autism.
– Ability to educate and support families in understanding the needs of their child.
– Familiarity with assistive technology and communication devices.
