A Pupil Referral Unit in Tooting are looking to hire a PRU Teaching assistant to guide the learning of pupils in both a 1:1 and classroom capacity. Students within a PRU may be facing a variety of challenges that have meant that they have not had successful experiences within mainstream schools. They may have damaged or low self-esteem, social and emotional problems (SEMH) or additional special education needs (SEN). As a result, they may not be working at an age-appropriate educational level. As a PRU Teaching assistant, you will work to mentor students and support them to maximise their progress and achievement.

Job Summary:

• Adapt and rise to the varying challenges that occur day to day with empathy and resilience.
• Prepare learning resources that are tailored to the individual needs of each pupil.
• Act as a mentor and positive role model for students, building trusting and supportive working relationships with them.
• Encourage students’ educational and personal development.
• Work effectively as a member of a dedicated team to promote student progress and achievement.
• Deal with confidential and sensitive information.

This PRU Teaching Assistant role is based in a supportive Pupil Referral Unit in Tooting who prioritise student and staff wellbeing.

You’ll join a large and experienced staff team delivering a range of teaching and learning interventions to pupils.
