Primary School Teaching Assistant
Ortus Recruitment is working in partnership with a reputable primary school based in Dulwich. Our partnered mainstream primary school have a ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted report, outstanding members in their team and now they seek to find an experienced Teaching Assistant to work with a KS1 pupil with special educational needs (SEN).
Dulwich is a well-connected suburb located in South London and is easily accessible via public transportation, with a variety of bus routes and three nearby train stations (North Dulwich, West Dulwich, and East Dulwich) providing regular services to London Bridge, Victoria, and London Overground. It’s also a convenient location for those who drive, with ample parking options available.
The successful candidate will play an essential role in supporting a young, vulnerable pupil with their learning and behaviour.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting a young, vulnerable pupil with their learning and behaviour
- Ensuring positive behaviour is displayed in the classroom
- Identifying barriers to learning and developing strategies to overcome them
- Creating action plans to encourage positive learning
- Building a strong relationship with the student and being a positive role model
- Working Monday – Friday (8:30am – 16:00pm)
- Full-time, 121 role
Key Requirements:
- A minimum of 6 months of experience working with children or young people, e.g. youth work, mentoring, tutoring, childcare, or volunteering
- Relevant qualifications for working with children or young people, e.g. degrees in Maths, English, Sciences, Psychology, Education, Drama, or Performing Arts
- A friendly, confident, outgoing and reliable attitude
- A genuine interest and passion for supporting young, vulnerable pupils
- Previous experience working with SEN or challenging behaviour is an advantage

This is a long-term, full-time opportunity. Therefore, we require a Teaching Assistant who is fully flexible and committed to their role. Candidates must be available immediately with no notice period and must be available for a trial day with the school.
