Ortus Recruitment is excited to partner with a mainstream primary school in Lambeth, London, to find a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant. This is a full-time role, starting after the Easter break, with the opportunity for a trial period to ensure the right fit for both the school and the candidate. Our partnered mainstream primary school is a welcoming and inclusive two-form entry primary school that provides a bespoke, engaging curriculum. With strong support from the wider community, this school fosters a positive environment where children are excited and motivated to learn.

Role Overview:
As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting both the class teacher and the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo). You will assist children inside and outside the classroom, following planned activities and intervention sessions, helping to create a nurturing and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support children with their learning under the direction of the class teacher and SENCo.
• Assist in implementing intervention sessions and activities designed to support the child’s development.
• Provide individualised support to children, ensuring they feel safe, supported, and encouraged.
• Collaborate with external agencies such as Speech and Language Therapists to ensure the child’s needs are being met.

What We Are Looking For:

• Previous experience working with children who have Special Educational Needs (SEND) is essential.
• Ability to build strong relationships with children and respond to their individual needs with a warm and caring approach.
• Ability to follow direction from the class teacher, SENCo, and external agencies to support the child’s progress.
